Getting Started
The map file can be obtained from different sources. If the city already has the map in autocad or a GIS, it can be imported. Maps can also be bought from different vendor or digitized in from a paper map.
UFIS allows trees and planting spaces to be entered by address. A symbol appears approximately where that address is located on the map. Or, a location can be pointed out or a GPS location can be entered. After the tree is positioned on the map, tree information such as height, dbh, species, condition, and maintenance can be entered. There are five fields that the user can define for other information specific to the cities needs.
Work order can be generated for each tree and them printed. This printout has information about the tree to give to a work crew. There are spaces for the crew to fill out pertaining to the worked performed. This information can then be entered.
A query can be performed to locate all oak trees greater than 50 iches. Also, a lisitng of all the uncompleted work order can be displayed and printed.
The map can be printed with the location of trees and planting spaces. Also, a print out of the map with only the tree meeting the criteria of the query can be printed. This will allow all the uncompleted work orders to be displayed and printed for the work crew.
